We’re looking for an experienced Safety Manager to join our team and lead our Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) programs. In charge of designing, implementing, and managing cutting-edge safety initiatives that go beyond compliance to foster a culture of protection and excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Design & Implement Safety Programs: Develop and oversee comprehensive safety programs tailored to the construction industry, aligning with legal requirements and company standards.
- Conduct Job Site Audits: Perform regular safety inspections and audits to assess risks and ensure compliance.
- Lead Training Initiatives: Organize and deliver engaging safety training for employees and subcontractors to promote continuous improvement.
- Policy Oversight: Maintain and update the company Safety Manual and ensure safety equipment and protective gear are available and functional.
- Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Oversee adherence to OSHA, DOT, and EPA regulations; submit safety reports as required.
- Investigate Incidents: Analyze accidents and incidents to determine root causes and implement corrective measures.
- Mitigate Risks: Identify hazards, develop risk mitigation strategies, and manage the workers' compensation program.
- Promote Safety Culture: Foster safety awareness and ensure protocols are effectively communicated across teams. Report monthly safety KPIs to senior leadership.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Safety Management, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years in construction safety management, with a proven track record of successful safety programs. Experience working with unions is a plus.
- Experience in: Trenching and excavation on job sites; Traffic control measures following MUTCD rules; Confined space protocols; OSHA record-keeping requirements; Underground electrical utility experience; Crane lift plan development and implementation.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, Cal/OSHA, DOT, and EPA regulations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is a bonus.
