JW Michaels is engaged with a Houston based Oilfield services client seeking a Senior Counsel to support their operational and commercial teams. Reporting directly to the General Counsel, this high visibility position will engage directly with the Client's Executive Team and business leaders on a range of transactional and legal matters.



Description

Responsibilities for this role will include:

  • Strategic leadership - providing entrepreneurial thought and accountability for global legal advice
  • Cross-functional collaboration - working with finance, sales, supply chain, and manufacturing teams
  • Delivering specialized advice on contracts, oil/gas disputes, and complex transactions
  • Contract management - handling various agreements (MSAs, sales, supplier contracts, NDAs)
  • Risk management - identifying/mitigating global operational risks
  • Process improvement - developing efficient contract management systems
  • Legal expertise - maintaining current knowledge of industry trends
  • Training - conducting legal education for internal teams
  • Privacy & compliance - implementing global programs, managing investigations
  • Privacy awareness - developing training and guidelines for data protection issues
  • Compliance culture - supporting global privacy and compliance initiatives




REQUIRED Candidate Criteria (Please read carefully):

  • Bachelor’s degree and JD
  • 5-9 years’ experience serving as in-house counsel and for oil and energy services industry, or a combination of experience servicing at a law firm and as in-house counsel advising oil and energy services industry clients
  • Current license to practice law in good standing
  • Draft, review, negotiate, and analyze clients on various agreements, including Master Service Agreement, sales contacts, supplier agreements, nondisclosure agreements, and other agreements.
  • Provide legal advice, analysis, counsel, and transactional support that is both commercially oriented and risk assessed on contract interpretation issues, oil and gas disputes, and complex transactions.
  • *MUST* be willing to be onsite in person 5 days/week;
