Position Overview

The Director of Operations is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing and optimizing the performance of the production, planning, quality, R&D, and distribution departments in a manufacturing organization. This role will lead a team of department heads across the Global Widget operations, and ensures operational excellence, drives efficiency, and supports the company's strategic goals by managing resources, improving processes, and fostering collaboration across teams.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

• Develop and implement operational strategies that align with the organization’s long-term goals and objectives.
• Collaborate with the executive team to establish priorities, allocate resources, and ensure cross-functional alignment.
• Drive initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and improve productivity.

Operational Management

• Oversee production operations, ensuring efficient manufacturing processes, adherence to timelines, and achievement of output targets.
• Lead the planning department to optimize production schedules, inventory management, and resource allocation.
• Ensure the quality department maintains high standards by implementing and monitoring quality control systems and processes.
• Supervise the distribution department to ensure timely and accurate delivery of products to customers.

Performance Monitoring & Continuous Improvement

• Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for all departments and regularly monitor progress.
• Identify opportunities for improvement in processes, technology, and workflows, and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation across all operational areas.

Team Leadership & Development

• Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing operations team, fostering professional growth and development.
• Encourage collaboration and effective communication between departments to ensure alignment and operational success.
• Manage workforce planning, including hiring, training, and succession planning, to maintain a skilled and motivated workforce.

Compliance & Risk Management

• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, and industry-specific guidelines.
• Identify and mitigate risks in the manufacturing process and supply chain.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Engineering, or a related field
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in operations management within a manufacturing environment , including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.

Skills & Competencies

• Proven ability to lead and manage multiple operational functions in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, supply chain management, and quality assurance systems.
• Expertise in strategic planning, resource allocation, and financial oversight.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies is highly desirable.
