The Director/Sr. Director of Biology will be instrumental in expanding our capabilities to functionally characterize proprietary Degrader Antibody Conjugates and developing translational plans to support identification and validation for target indications. They will oversee a team of biologists and will participate in evaluating novel drug conjugates for applications in oncology, and other areas of unmet medical need.
Additionally, the role will be responsible for program leadership and have the opportunity to propose novel treatment ideas. The title and compensation package will be based on experience and relevant skills. This is an on-site role with lab-facing responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage a high functioning team of biologists responsible for functional characterization of degrader based bioconjugates
- Co-lead/lead drug discovery projects and assist in preparing documents to support IND filings
- Contribute to translational plans for multiple programs supporting biomarker development
- Maintain and expand in-house capabilities to perform in vitro experiments with high throughput and characterize the MoA of innovative payloads
- Lead efforts for evaluation of antigen and target expression in cells and tissues
- Identify, design, plan and establish cell based and biochemical assays and support team in assay development and optimization, including troubleshooting as needed
- Design and manage CRO studies
- Propose novel drug conjugate targets and treatment concepts
- Participate in project teams, actively participate in the development of an innovative product portfolio and advise company leadership
- Mentor and develop staff and support the development of colleagues
Requirements and Experience:
- Ph.D. in cancer biology, immunology, or related discipline
- 10+ years of industry experience in drug development research and 6+ years of successful management/leadership
- Strong knowledge of signaling pathways (e.g., RAS/ERK, MAPK)
- Experience in leadership of drug discovery programs including IND planning and submissions
- Strong hands-on experience in designing and executing in vitro and in vivo studies to validate targets and treatment ideas using ADCs, mAbs, degraders or other targeted therapies
- Good understanding and utility of bioinformatic tools for target validation and biomarker development
- Experience with translational methods and analyses including IHC, transcriptomics, genomics and proteomics
- Strong background in cancer biology, ADCs (antibody drug conjugates) and drug discovery including managing experiments at CROs
- Demonstrated leadership qualities as manager of a core function
- Demonstrated success in collaborative planning and execution as a project team leader
- Creativity and problem-solving skills paired with the ability to excel in a highly collaborative environment
