Job Description

Fanning Howey is looking for an exceptional Interior Designer to work in our Indianapolis, Indiana office to be an essential part of our company's growth.


In this position you will promote the corporate vision, support all of the quality assurance program(s), and allow for innovation from area to increase levels of efficiency and productivity by assisting in the lead of the Interior Designers with planning, designing, and furnishing interior environments of education buildings (K-12) and other projects. You will confer with clients about their ideas and needs and blend those with your own to come up with a beautiful design concept.


Essential duties and responsibilities, but not limited to are:

  • Maintain close client contact from conceptual meeting throughout entire design process. Builds and maintains a close relationship with entire design team and assists on critical design of architectural elements.
  • Confers with client to determine architectural preferences, purpose and function of environment, budget, types of construction, equipment to be installed, and other factors which affect planning interior and architectural environments.
  • Integrates findings with knowledge of interior design and formulates environmental plan to be practical, esthetic, and conducive to intended purposes such as raising productivity or improving lifestyle of occupants.
  • Advises client on interior design factors such as space planning, layout and utilization of furnishings and equipment, color schemes, and color coordination. May advise client on architectural elements as well.
  • Responsible for color brochures and color selections.
  • Renders design ideas in form of drawings, illustrations, or 3D renderings; estimates material requirements and costs, and presents design to client for approval.
  • Conducts and develops design and presentation.
  • Selects or designs and purchases furnishings, art works, and accessories.
  • Subcontracts fabrication, installation, and arrangement of carpeting, fixtures, accessories, draperies, paint and wall coverings, art work, furniture, and related items.
  • Continues professional development.
  • Assists in coordination and preparation for corporate-wide department meeting s.
  • Continually further professional development/education by engaging in appropriate programs and experience opportunities.
  • Adhere to the Human Performance Code of Conduct, support the Quality Assurance programs, and allow for innovation from area to increase levels of efficiency and productivity.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Fifth year college or university program certificate; five (5) or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit and Microsoft Office is preferred.
