Job Summary:
The General Manager of Dock and Door Operations is responsible for overseeing the strategic planning, management, and execution of all Dock and Door operations. This role ensures efficient, safe, and compliant transport services while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day Dock and Door operations, ensuring optimal utilization of drivers, equipment, and resources.
- Implement and enforce policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of Dock and Door Technicians.
- Conduct performance evaluations and foster a culture of accountability and continuously
- Develop and execute strategies to achieve operational efficiency, profitability, and growth targets.
- Monitor industry trends and adapt operations to remain competitive.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring timely communication and service delivery.
- Address and resolve service-related issues to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Ensure all operations comply with DOT regulations, safety protocols, and company policies.
- Develop and manage budgets, analyzing costs and operational performance to identify areas for improvement.
- Optimize routing and scheduling to minimize expenses and maximize profitability.
- Utilize transportation management systems (TMS) and other tools to monitor performance metrics.
- Prepare and present operational reports to senior leadership.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Transportation, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years in transportation or logistics management, with at least 3 years in Dock and Door operations.
- Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
- Proficient in transportation management systems (TMS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
