NOTE: This position is offered as a hybrid role in the Seattle, WA area. You must be willing to work in office at the Nordstrom Seattle office a minimum of 3 days/week to be considered for this position.
Our Assortment Planners and Buyers are jointly accountable to meet and exceed departmental sales, margin and turn targets. Assortment Planners create actionable, customer-centric supplier plans through a detailed understanding of product and customer needs. They partner with the Buyer to achieve financial objectives. They collaborate with cross functional partners to drive departmental strategies.
A day in the life…
- Reconcile merchandise financial, supplier and assortment plans ensuring it captures key product and customer strategies and are achievable.
- Direct the analysis and use of information to improve the depth and precision of the buy
- Manage and direct inventory management in season; ensuring effective decision making around analysis, markdowns, claims, re-orders, etc.
- Partner with the buyer and other cross functional partners on business reviews, open-to-buy management and plan revisions to achieve financial goals and strategic objectives.
- Teach, coach and motivate direct reports to drive in season performance management and become superior partners in planning assortments and quantifying the buy.
You own this if you have…
- 4+ years of experience as a multichannel/omni-channel retail merchandise Planner or equivalent role
- Demonstrated understanding of retail and the service environment of Nordstrom
- Proficiency in MS Office suite required
- Experience managing and supporting a high sales volume category (high SKU count, heavy seasonality, high revenue ($20M+)) (preferred)
- Experience in a relevant merchandise category (preferred)
- Strong analytical/math Skills
- Strong time management skills, attention to detail, problem solving, interpersonal and organizational skills – communication between functional groups is critical
- Excellent written/verbal communication and presentation skills
