Job Description

The Factory Engineering team at our organization is looking for a Chemical Process Engineer to join our Process Design Team in Austin, TX. The Process Design Team strives to create the factory of the future by bringing conceptual designs to life, producing cutting-edge designs of chemical and utility systems that are fully integrated with manufacturing processes. As a Chemical Process Engineer, you will play a critical role in our efforts to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy.



Responsibilities:

  • Apply a First Principles Design Philosophy and a broad set of process engineering tools to solve technical problems and create designs supporting hazardous gas and chemical systems such as refrigerants, cryogenic gases, viscous fluids, corrosive fluids, reactive fluids, and flammable fluids
  • Responsible for front-end and detailed process designs, independently producing deliverables including:
  • PFDs, P&IDs, Process Plans, Layouts, and Isometrics
  • Equipment Specifications and Request for Proposals
  • Basis of Design documentation development
  • Sequence of Operations / Controls Narrative document development
  • Responsible for independently performing necessary process calculations to support design, including hydraulic analysis, equipment sizing calculations and relief calculations. This includes use and familiarity of specialty software such as the Aspen Suite, Pipe-Flo, etc.
  • Active participant in Process Hazard Analysis



Requirements:

  • Experience with hydraulic / process simulator
  • Equipment datasheet preparation
  • Working experience with P&ID development
  • Driven - intention is to lighten workload for us here and want someone who won't be waiting for the starting gun
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering
  • 2-5 years of experience in hazardous chemical Process Design, or Operations. A combination of experience with an owner operator and an EPC firm is highly desired
  • Familiarity with ASME, API and CGA Codes and Standards.
  • Ability to participate in chemical process hazard evaluations and HAZOPs.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Navisworks, Bluebeam, Aspen Plus, and Pipe-Flo. Design engineers are not required to use Revit, but Revit experience is a plus
  • Ability to adapt, multi-task and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment with evolving changes in design requirements
  • A positive, “do the impossible” attitude and ability to communicate with peers and stakeholders at all levels including piping designers, stress engineers, other engineering disciplines, customers, and executives.
