Commercial Lines Department Director – Mercer County, NJ

Our client is seeking a Commercial Lines Department Manager to report to the COO that will lead and supervise the Producer Unit and Select and Tech Teams, overseeing the sales and service of client policies. They will provide technical expertise to coordinate internal services for new and existing clients, focusing on sales, account development, and problem-solving in line with agency objectives. This role involves building strong relationships with team members and producers, collaborating with management to support client retention and new business opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop staff to meet sales, retention, and service goals.
  • Oversee hiring, training, performance reviews, and career development.
  • Monitor policy renewals, invoicing, and workload; Track team activities and ensure service standards.
  • Develop workflows, conduct quality audits, and ensure compliance.
  • Resolve client, insurer, and team service issues.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, insurers, and team members.
  • Act as a client liaison, offering technical support and ensuring satisfaction.
  • Support company goals, collaboration, and growth targets.


Qualifications & Education:

  • Valid Property/Casualty/Life/Health Lines Licenses, as applicable
  • 7-10+ years in commercial account management/processing with an agency or risk management department
  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience preferred
  • Industry designation (ARM, CIC, CPCU) or willingness to pursue one
  • In-depth knowledge of agency management systems, workflows, underwriting, sales, and service processes
  • High level of professionalism, ethical standards, and leadership skills; highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated; exceptional organizational, critical thinking, and analytical skills
  • Strong leadership with a sense of urgency when needed; Ability to supervise, train, and prioritize work assignments
  • Ability to develop and implement short and long-term goals
  • Effective conflict resolution and team collaboration skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of insurance company rating systems (Applied Systems Epic)
