CANDIDATES WITH CHEMICAL MANUFACTURING BACKGROUND ARE PREFERRED.
This senior level position is responsible for developing, implementing, and administering occupational safety, emergency response, process safety, industrial hygiene, environmental and security management systems, programs, policies, and practices to adhere to Local, State and Federal regulations. The position is fully onsite at our North Augusta manufacturing facility and must be able to navigate the risk in a complex chemical manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Identify and develop strategic plans/controls to manage health, safety, emergency response, security, and regulatory risks.
- Monitor new EHS regulations or emerging issues to ensure compliance with all Federal, State and Local laws along with regulatory agency requirements, including: Occupational Safety and Health.
- Solid knowledge of EHS law, regulations, and standards to include OSHA, DHS, TSCA, CWC, OZONE, Wastewater & Air.
- Administration (OSHA), Process Safety Management (PSM), Department of Homeland Security (DHS), SCDHEC, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC).
- Guide and assist company management in identifying, addressing, and correcting environmental, health and safety issues.
- Develop, adapt, implement, and administer EHS management systems, policies/procedures, and practices.
- Strong presence on the plant floor required to drive improvements in all area of EHS.
- Able to work in a hazardous environment with chemicals, elevated work areas, and other physical hazards.
- Able to work in various levels of PPE including wearing acid gear and breathing apparatus.
- Perform environmental, health, and safety audits and develop action plans to correct deficiencies.
- Work with plant management to execute action plans. Conduct and develop others in incident investigation techniques.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in safety, health, chemistry, biology, or a related field preferred.
- 10 years of experience in managing teams in safety, industrial hygiene, environmental issues, emergency response, hazardous materials and workers compensation in a high hazard chemical industry.
- Emergency response leadership experience preferred.
