Job Description

Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) Engineer

We are seeking a GNC Engineer to contribute to the design, simulation, and implementation of advanced guidance, navigation, and control systems for aerospace vehicles and other space systems. In this role, you will be responsible for system architecture, vehicle design trade studies, and the development of algorithms for attitude determination, trajectory optimization, and control. You will be involved throughout the full lifecycle of GNC development, from early conceptual design to hardware-in-the-loop testing, system integration, and operational deployment.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop high-performance GNC systems for advanced aerospace applications.
  • Prototype, test, and troubleshoot simulations, flight algorithms, and hardware-in-the-loop systems.
  • Build and refine simulation and modeling tools to support vehicle design and trade studies.
  • Develop algorithms for trajectory optimization, attitude control, and orbit determination.
  • Select and size actuators and sensors to meet system performance requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with mission objectives.
  • Conduct technical reviews, including design, test readiness, and flight readiness assessments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, or a related discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience designing and implementing control systems in challenging environments (e.g., autonomous vehicles, drones, or spacecraft).
  • Strong understanding of orbital mechanics, modeling, and simulation.
  • Proficiency in software development and modeling tools (e.g., C, C++, Python, MATLAB, Simulink).
  • Proven ability to deliver innovative and technically excellent solutions.
  • Strong system engineering and configuration management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in engineering or physics.
  • Experience with trajectory design and analysis tools (e.g., GMAT, AGI STK/Astrogator, FreeFlyer).
  • Demonstrated experience with GNC system development, actuator sizing, and attitude determination.
  • Background in spacecraft operations, particularly in rendezvous and docking scenarios.
