R&D Lab Technician will work closely with R&D staff to complete laboratory sample manufacture and testing focused primarily on new compound development.
R&D Lab Technician Responsibilities:
- Work as part of the Technician team to drive needed QA and other laboratory priorities.
- Complete timely, accurate R&D laboratory sample preparation and testing.
- Complete and write basic non-standard reports for lab requests and special projects
- Assist with training for existing and new members of the team
- Maintain equipment in good, clean working order
- Ensure laboratory supplies are kept up to date
- Maintain accurate and complete records
- Verify and complete Certificates of Analysis
- Review and update department work instructions
- Drafts new work instructions
- Work closely with the local manufacturing team, company’s Product Specialists, and other departments and company locations as needed
- Develop new test methods based on new product needs
- Assists or leads the set-up of new equipment
- Complete safety walk thru’s of various Quality work areas
- Provides safety recommendations to immediate supervisor and/or management
R&D Lab Technician Requirements:
- Completed Associate’s degree; Bachelor’s highly preferred
- 3-5+ years’ experience working in a Quality or R&D laboratory position
- In depth knowledge of analytical equipment and interpretation of data including FT-IR, TGA, DSC, XRF, Capillary Rheology
- Advanced knowledge on the background concepts and use of QA test equipment: MDR, Mooney viscosities, Extrusion.
- Interpretation, Design and execution of test methods; Experience with standards required
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Proficiency with the MS Office suite of programs
- Experience in writing internal technical reports
- Understanding of ISO 9000 based Quality Systems
- Working knowledge of 5S housekeeping standard
- Good understanding of best practice health and safety policies as they apply to a QA laboratory environment
