Job Description

Job Title: Engineering Project Manager

Job Overview: The Engineering Project Manager will oversee engineering operations, including budgeting, scheduling, and directing staff while ensuring project efficiency and timely completion. This role involves coordinating and prioritizing workloads, managing project scopes, budgets, and providing guidance to engineers and staff. The position also entails preparing engineering plans for subdivisions, commercial, multi-family developments, and public works projects, while collaborating with internal teams and external clients.


Responsibilities:

  • Manage engineering operations, project budgets, and schedules
  • Prioritize and distribute workload within the engineering department
  • Oversee project scopes and communicate with support staff
  • Provide guidance on company policies, processes, and methods
  • Prepare improvement plans, specifications, and permit applications
  • Oversee civil design work, including grading, drainage, paving, and utility systems
  • Work with CAD, Project Managers, and Surveyors to ensure project accuracy
  • Coordinate with Surveying Department for project information
  • Identify critical project requirements and ensure timely coordination with agencies
  • Supervise drafters and technicians, ensuring accurate plans and designs
  • Perform civil design calculations and research code issues with local authorities
  • Review and recommend changes to vendor and client-supplied drawings
  • Ensure work quality and completeness before submission
  • Stamps and signs improvement plans and reports
  • Attend meetings and coordinate with clients, subcontractors, and agencies
  • Draft communication to clients and public agencies
  • Maintain strong client relationships and manage projects responsibly


Qualifications:

  • PE or PLS required
  • Proven experience in designing own projects - not just review
  • 5 years experience in design calculations for subdivisions, commercial and industrial sites
  • Familiarity with local jurisdiction standards and codes
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines efficiently
