POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES
Administers the daily operations of a specific service in an assigned area. Maintains, services, calibrates, adjusts, repairs, and tests all types of general medical equipment and systems for the University Health. Provides and documents complex repairs and calibration services on a broad range of patient care and support equipment. Must have a strong working knowledge of all aspects of medical equipment management including standards and regulations relating to The Joint Commission and other applicable regulatory agencies. Must be able to interact with other department employees, clinical staff including management, nurses and physicians, ancillary staff and outside vendors. Complies with UH, departmental and section policies and procedures.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Associate degree in biomedical engineering technology or related field or over twelve years of relevant experience is required. Bachelor degree in any related field is preferred. Four years of experience in a full service biomedical section/department or company, with at least one year as a senior technician, is required; Seven years of experience with three years as a senior technician is preferred. Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET) preferred.
