Job Summary

The Echo/Vascular/Diagnostic Medical Sonographer is responsible for the independent operation of sonographic equipment, and for performing and communicating results of diagnostic examinations using sonography.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates program activities to ensure consistent delivery of quality patient-centered care and efficient operations in support of hospital goals and objectives.
• Leads the development, implementation, ongoing assessment and improvement of Sonography programs, patient-care protocols, standards of care, policies and procedures. Monitors outcomes: identifies opportunities/gaps and initiates appropriate enhancements and/or corrections. Disseminates new or revised policies, procedures and initiatives.
• Performs all requested sonographic examinations as ordered by the attending physician. Prepares preliminary reports and contacts referring physicians as required. Coordinates with other staff as appropriate to ensure patient care is provided.

Requirements: -

• Graduate of an accredited formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program with a grade of “C” or above.
• 12 months of experience preferred. Experience should include routine, vascular, OB/GYN and breast ultrasonography.
• Required Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations
• Certification of completion from an ARDMS accredited program of Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
• Active certification by American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) preferred or obtained within 18 months of hire (SPI and AB)
• BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
