Occupational therapists (OT) may work with primarily children and address specific areas of treatment such as: fine motor, visual motor and visual perceptual skills, sensory processing, upper body strength and range of motion, activities of daily living including feeding, eating and swallowing, self-care and play and bilateral coordination. Occupational therapists must be licensed as an occupational therapist in the state of Georgia and maintain all requirements for licensure including fulfilling continuing education requirements. Therapists must have adequate competency and training in any modality or treatment form utilized within the Center.
Likewise, occupational therapists utilizing thermal or electrical modalities must be licensed within the state of Georgia. Occupational therapists are required to assist their patients safely in and out of all treatment areas. This may include transferring of patients from one surface to another or over various terrains. Therapists performing aquatic therapy must be able to swim and perform basic aquatic life saving techniques. Therapists performing hippotherapy must demonstrate adequate strength and range of motion to maintain the safety of the rider at all times including mounting and dismounting. Therapists must be CPR and First Aid certified on an bi-annual basis. Occupational therapists are expected to perform standardized evaluations in addition to evaluations utilizing clinical observations and interview. Therapists are expected to present handwritten and typed reports in a timely manner. Therapists must be able to appropriately and adequately communicate with their patients and others.
