Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant General Manager to join our dynamic team in the food industry. You will play a crucial role in supporting the General Manager in overseeing daily operations, ensuring exceptional service, and maintaining high standards of food preparation and kitchen management. This position requires strong leadership skills, a passion for hospitality, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Operational Management
- Complete walkthroughs of the entire restaurant, at the beginning and end of each shift to ensure cleanliness, organization, and readiness.
- Oversee FOH and BOH operations, ensuring organization, sanitation, and adherence to high-quality standards.
- Verify staff completion of FOH and BOH Opening/Closing Checklists, and ensure these tasks are executed thoroughly.
- Manage and execute large parties, ensuring engaging and memorable guest experiences.
- Monitor time cards of the staff and ensure accuracy in clock-in/clock-out within the POS system.
- Oversee preparation infusion jars and garnishes to maintain drink quality and consistency.
- Execute drink specials, crafting innovative weekly/monthly drink offerings.
- Plan and execute our Seasonal Cocktails, featuring festive and unique flavors.
- Ensure bar staff strictly follow the Drinks Recipe Book and contact supervisors for approval if updates or changes are required.
- Place weekly orders for beer, liquor, and consumables to maintain inventory levels.
Technology & Communication
- Review online waitlist to ensure accuracy in wait times during busy periods.
- Ensure music volume/genre and lighting align with the restaurant’s ambiance and verify that all TVs are on appropriate channels.
- Check email inbox at least once per shift to promptly respond to inquiries and general customer questions.
- Monitor and communicate out-of-stock items in the team group chat, alerting the Head Chef to minimize service disruptions.
- Report quality control concerns to the line cooks and Head Chef immediately and log comps in Toast if necessary for tracking purposes.
- Review online applications for potential candidates and their resumes at least once per week to identify qualified applicants and facilitate the hiring process.
Team Leadership & Development
- Build and maintain a positive, team-focused environment that emphasizes collaboration and mutual support.
- Provide constructive feedback when necessary and enforce accountability, addressing performance issues promptly and professionally.
- Collaborate closely with the kitchen team to maintain exceptional and consistent food quality and presentation standards.
- ?Conduct pre-shift meetings to share food and drink specials, operational updates, and upcoming promotions.
- Monitor and manage labor costs for FOH and BOH during all shifts, maintaining efficiency without sacrificing quality service
- Create and manage FOH staff schedules, ensuring appropriate coverage for all shifts.
- Recruit new employees, ensuring they are trained in the restaurant’s culture, menu, and service standards.
Guest Experience & Atmosphere
- Personally welcome and engage with guests, develop relationships with them, and create an inviting environment that reflects the restaurant’s core values.
- Conduct regular table visits to gather feedback and ensure every guest has an exceptional dining experience.
- Actively oversee the sanitation of the dining area, bar, and kitchen to ensure a welcoming and clean environment.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of the menu and effectively manage guest expectations.
- Step in to assist staff in any role as needed during peak times or emergencies to maintain smooth operations.
- Promptly and professionally resolve guest concerns or issues to uphold service excellence.
- Proactively identify and suggest improvements to enhance operational efficiency, guest experience, and staff development.
