The Supply Chain Category Manager will support business operations by managing assigned purchased commodities, focusing on cost reduction initiatives, sourcing, new product introduction support, risk management, supplier negotiations, and conflict resolution. This position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure effective supplier relationships and seamless integration of supply chain activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Cost Reduction Initiatives: Generate and execute strategies to reduce costs across assigned categories.
- Category Strategy: Develop, execute, and maintain category strategies, including evaluating supplier risk and sourcing strategies.
- New Product Introduction (NPI): Collaborate with the engineering team to support all NPI activities for assigned categories.
- Supplier Agreements: Create and negotiate long-term agreements with suppliers to ensure favorable terms and conditions.
- Escalation and Conflict Management: Handle supplier escalations and manage conflicts to resolve issues effectively and maintain strong supplier relationships.
- Special Projects: Participate in special projects as assigned by the department manager to support business objectives.
- Continuous Improvement: Establish and promote standards and procedures for continuous improvement in supply chain operations.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Education : Bachelor’s degree (preferred) or an equivalent combination of education and experience. MBA is preferred.
- Experience: 5-7 years of relevant purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
Skills:
- Proven negotiation skills with a focus on cost reduction and supplier relationship management.
- Strong analytical, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Travel: Ability to travel domestically and internationally (25% travel required).
