Electrical Control System Designer/Drafter
Location: Orlando, FL (Onsite: 5 days/week, potential adjustment to 4 days/week after acclimation)
Job Responsibilities:
- Interpret electrical control system design requirements and create original layouts, iterative assembly and detail drawings, schematics, artwork, isometrics, and illustrations.
- Collaborate with engineers to review, analyze, and integrate technical requirements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with design approaches.
- Develop electro-mechanical packaging of industrial control panels and enclosures based on high-level concepts.
- Select components from Client's preferred manufacturers and prepare detailed design drawings and schematics for industrial control panels using AutoCAD .
- Ensure designs comply with UL508a and National Electrical Code (NEC) standards, following ANSI Y14.5 dimension and tolerance practices.
- Present and review designs with controls and mechanical engineers and participate in meetings as needed.
- Model equipment locations within ride facility designs using Revit .
- Deliver production-ready assembly drawings, detail drawings, bills of material, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, and equipment lists.
- Prepare and release fully developed drawings into internal data management systems.
- Review engineering drawings from vendors, clients, and other subject areas for consistency with drafting standards.
- Design multi-layer PCB assemblies based on engineering schematics.
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in control system design for electromechanical systems.
- Strong knowledge of industrial control panel design and components such as PLCs, VFDs, control switches/buttons, enclosures, relays, power supplies, connectors, and terminal blocks.
- Familiarity with electrical and mechanical design standards and codes , including UL508a, NEC, and ANSI Y14.5.
- Proficient in developing electrical equipment assemblies, schematics, one-line diagrams, and equipment schedules .
- Advanced AutoCAD (2D) skills for electrical design.
- Experience with model and drawing revision control .
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel .
- Strong multitasking and time management skills.
- Excellent team collaboration and communication abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3D CAD experience integrating ride control equipment into facility and mechanical CAD packages.
- Advanced CAD proficiency with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit, and Navisworks.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes , including printed circuit board (PCB) design and fabrication .
- Familiarity with industrial operational technology networking equipment and structured cabling design .
- Knowledge of Rockwell and/or Beckhoff automation systems .
- Field experience with control system wiring, startup, and testing .
- Understanding of single and multi-layer PCB schematics, assemblies, and fabrication .
- Ability to design multi-layer PCB assemblies based on engineering schematics.
- Experience with SolidWorks and EPLAN for design updates and revisions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe tool suite .
Education Requirements:
- Required: Associate Degree in Electronics or Engineering Design.
- Preferred: Formal training in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and/or Revit.
