Job Title: Chemical Technician

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Chemical Technician to join our team. As a Chemical Technician, you will play a crucial role in assisting chemists and chemical engineers with the development, testing, and quality assurance of chemical products. Your responsibilities will include performing lab tests, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations, tracking inventory, and maintaining lab equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in chemistry and be able to effectively troubleshoot issues in production while ensuring the safety and quality of chemical processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Laboratory Testing & Analysis: Conduct lab tests to ensure chemicals are safe for use, identifying potential impurities, and troubleshooting anomalies in results.
  • Quality Control & Assurance: Review and compile lab test results, ensuring compliance with applicable safety standards, regulations, and company protocols.
  • Inventory Management: Track and maintain inventory of chemicals, prepare chemical solutions, and prioritize orders in a timely manner.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Follow environmental regulations and regularly review updated safety protocols from OSHA and NFPA. Ensure that all chemical products adhere to regulatory standards.
  • Chemical Solution Preparation: Safely prepare and store chemical solutions according to temperature and safety requirements.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Maintain lab equipment, calibrate instruments, sterilize work surfaces, and replace worn or damaged parts as necessary.
  • Process Monitoring: Monitor chemical processes and identify any production issues, collaborating with relevant personnel to resolve problems.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Accurately document chemical testing processes and results, producing graphical data for lab managers or senior personnel.
  • Training & Development: Train new technicians on chemical processes, safety protocols, and lab procedures. Regularly update knowledge of chemical technology.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in Chemistry or related field with a minimum of 12 semester hours in Chemistry.
  • Previous experience in a water treatment plant, industrial or manufacturing environment, or related field is preferred.
  • Knowledge of boiler/water analysis and production of deionized water is an asset.
  • Competency in using, calibrating, and maintaining laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
  • Experience with analytical methods, techniques, and troubleshooting is highly desirable.
  • Strong mechanical skills and familiarity with equipment repair is preferred.
  • Ability to follow strict safety guidelines and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
