General Description
Under the direction of the Electrical Engineering Manager, the Electrical Design Engineer will work as an integral part of the team to design and detail drawings in accordance with project schedules. In order to complete this process, communication with multiple groups within the company will be necessary. Typically including manufacturing, engineering, sales, and/or field service. In addition to working as part of a project team, the position will have additional duties completing Engineering Changes and maintaining part/assembly information with the ERP system. Opportunities to program and test PLC / HMI programs based on experience / knowledgebase.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Design and Detail assigned projects, in collaboration with engineering, and shop needs.
- Submit drawings to lead engineers and/or team leads for review prior to release.
- Maintain BOM and part information within the ERP system.
- Detail in accordance with drawing guidelines and SOP’s.
- Develop drawings for ease of assembly and installation.
- Ability to program PLC and HMIs – including shop testing (preferred)
- Hold self accountable to meeting timelines for production releases.
- Assist in communication and documentation of daily project status and release dates.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree within electrical engineering, electromechanical technology, or similar is desired.
- 3-5+ years experience within electrical engineering and design.
- 3+ years experience within machine shop manufacturing, assembly manufacturing, and/or casting manufacturing is desired.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks Electrical or Equivalent 2D software is required.
- Proficiency in Rockwell or Siemens PLC software (preferred)
- Proficiency in Rockwell HMI software (preferred)
- Ability to detail in accordance with standard drawing practices.
- Experience maintaining bill of materials and part information using an ERP system.
- Demonstrate proficiency with computer skills; MS Office, MS Project or similar project management software.
- Panel design and build experience (preferred)
- UL experience (UL508A certification preferred)
