Overview:This legal counsel role will play a critical part in supporting BJs corporate, compliance, and commercial matters by providing clear, commercially minded, and strategic legal advice to BJs business teams. Success in this role requires a team-first attitude, drive, excellent business judgment, strong communication skills, exceptional organizational skills, a strong sense of ownership, and the ability to build strong cross functional relationships. BJs (NYSE: BJ) is a Fortune 250 multi-channel retail company, delivering outstanding value to its 7m+ members through its 247 clubs, 182 gas stations, and national e-commerce presence.
Responsibilities:
- Support compliance with securities laws and regulations
- Research, analyze, and manage complex legal issues (corporate, compliance, commercial)
- Support engagements with BJs business teams to understand and drive practical solutions
- Work with other attorneys and paralegals to address and support corporate, compliance, and commercial matters
- Perform other duties as assigned or as circumstances warrant
Qualifications:
- J. D. from top law school
- At least 2-4 years of AmLaw 100 corporate / transactional experience required
- Active licensure in at least one jurisdiction (Massachusetts bar admission not required)
- Strong client service focus and team orientation
- Excellent attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Personal integrity, tact, excellent discretion, and the ability to handle highly confidential information appropriately
- Excellent research, analytical, and writing skills
- Ability to explain legal issues clearly and concisely
This is a hybrid role. Tuesday through Thursday are in-office days at BJ's Club Support Center in Marlborough, MA and Monday and Friday are remote days.
