Boise Cascade has an exciting opening for a Sales Specialist. This is a hybrid role, but the right candidate must be located in Boise, ID or the surrounding areas. Please review the responsibilities and needed qualifications below and apply today!
Scope
This position will perform entry level sales and customer service processes in our Commodity business which may include the following:
- Extensive telephone contact, data collection and entry, pricing, verification, report development information exchange, and document processing requiring in-depth analysis, problem solving, and a comprehensive knowledge of company and/or department procedures.
- Forecast, plan, implement and manage product sales to meet customers' service needs.
- May be involved in order entry, evaluating and implement product pricing based on market conditions, mill scheduling, invoicing, accounts receivable, preparing contracts, vendor managed inventory (VMI) and letters of credit.
Responsibilities
- Develops working knowledge of Boise products and production processes, product markets and the relationship to the overall market.
- Frequent and independent follow-through responsibility for an entire process of a sale including receiving and inputting orders, assigns prices to products, shipping, transportation, and coordinating key information between mills, sales staff, transportation, and customers.
- Understands the mechanics of sales administration/claims processes and efficiently handles paperwork, enters orders into automated order entry system on a daily basis.
- Interacts and maintains productive working relationships with team members in sales, manufacturing, logistics, accounting/credit and across the divisions.
- Can back up other department staff. Assists manager and/or sales representative on special assignments.
- Develops comfort in communications and knowledge of customer base and their product needs and use.
- Establishes, maintains, and improves relationships with external contacts.
- Identifies and resolves sales/coordination issues.
- Demonstrates a positive attitude when faced with adverse market conditions or negative feedback/interactions.
- Demonstrate strong commitment to safety, quality, environmental awareness, and continuous process improvement.
Qualifications
- The successful candidate will have the ability to understand and apply mathematical calculations and concepts involving fractions, decimals, percentages, etc.
- Will use solid editing and proofreading skills in composing the format and content of technical documents.
- Will be highly proficient in computer software applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Will demonstrate a high level of effective interpersonal and customer service orientation in addition to an aptitude for numbers, accuracy, and organization.
- College degree, or equivalent work experience in related job function. Prefer 1-2 years of experience in a specialized field, such as purchasing, sales, transportation, production, shipping, etc.
- Current knowledge of the products and/or sales processes as it relates to technical aspects and internal and external environments is a plus.
