Sales Manager


Job Summary:

The Sales Manager establishes friendly, positive, direct relationships with our diverse sales team and customers by using active listening skills to provide viable options, answer questions, and resolve issues. This role employs a pro-active service style and social perceptiveness skills to help others and be aware of other’s reactions. This position requires self-efficacy, initiative, and hospitality to meet quality standards for phone calls, display, service, and customer satisfaction at our luxury boutique. The Sales Manager motivates the sales team, sets the example for service standards, develops and expands business relationships, and establishes and implements strategies and forecasts for overall business growth and account management.


Supervision given: Supervises the sales team on the sales floor.

Supervision received: General direction provided by store leadership.


Job Duties:

Hospitality-Based Customer Service

  • Warmly greets customers, giving full attention to the customer, establishing rapport and helpfulness. Provides exceptional customer service including assessing customer needs and wants, quality standards for service, and evaluating customer satisfaction.
  • Establishes, nurtures, and maintains one-on-one relationships with new and existing clients. Develops interpersonal relationships with sales leads, by research, qualification, cold calling, and recommendations, among other methods.
  • Maintains composure and professionalism in high volume/high stress situations.


Business and Team Development

  • Functions as a liaison between customer-facing team and Operations staff.
  • Recruit, interview, select, on-board, train, coach, counsel, mentor, and discipline sales team members; communicate company values, strategies, and objectives; assign accountabilities; help staff to improve knowledge and skills; motivate and encourage performance; monitor and appraise performance; develop contests and incentives; create a climate for collaboration and sharing information freely.
  • Researches and resolves sales team and customer concerns, complaints, or issues in a prompt manner in coordination with leadership.
  • Uses calm, professional demeanor and courtesy. Maintains awareness of other’s reactions and understands why they react as they do.
  • Generates and develops new business to meet specific monthly goals.
  • Oversees client relations using needs-based marketing techniques to ensure that all existing customers are regularly contacted with services that exceed their expectations.
  • Develops and implements sales action plans with objectives and strategies to increase revenue and acquire new accounts.
  • Seeks and creates opportunities to expand business with current clients, identifies further needs, develops plans, and presents actions to leadership.
  • Grows prospective clients and current accounts to their full potential, creating high-value relationships over a long-term basis.
  • Analyze existing and anticipated customer needs to develop and promote company services to fulfill those requirements.
  • Manages preparation and implementation of sales and business development plans, sales forecasts, and strategies.


Point of Sales Duties

  • Performs accurate point of sales duties, including processing data into sales terminal, receiving payment, and providing receipts with quick efficiency.
  • Effectively and accurately receives, records, and routes customer orders, special requests, or changes.
  • Accurately documents customer contact information, actions, and responses in customer database.
  • Effectively and accurately communicates special orders and customer issues to all applicable internal team members and leadership.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Previous Experience:

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in business, liberal arts, or a related field.
  • Requires four-six years sales management with progressively responsible experience within retail, wholesale, hospitality, country clubs, or a related field.
  • Proven track record of increasing clients and generating sales results in a complex environment.
  • Well-developed negotiation and account management skills.


Physical Requirements

  • Stand and walk for prolonged periods of time, up to 8 or more hours.
  • Speak/understand English effectively. Understand and appropriately respond to a diverse population.
  • Perform basic math skills; including addition, multiply, divide, and calculate percentiles.
  • Coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Collect, interpret, and analyze complex data and information to inform decisions.
  • Carry, pull, push, and lift items up to 25 pounds.
