Biomedical Equipment Technician III


Location: Canton, IL

Shift: M-F, 8AM to 5PM

Pay: $64K - $79K annually, based on experience


Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Technical Certificate or DOD training (required).
  • College Degree, Certification, or higher-level education related to this job description (preferred).
  • CBET or similar certification (preferred).


Responsibilities:

  • Assemble, maintain, and repair basic and advanced electronic devices according to their specifications.
  • Maintain and repair life-support and other high-risk patient care and diagnostic equipment.
  • Assist in managing the facility’s scheduled maintenance program.
  • Accurately document all activities in the preferred computerized medical maintenance system and follow up with customers at each delay, repair milestone, or completion.
  • Drive and maintain departmental performance standards and goals.
  • Diagnose and resolve system and equipment malfunctions by performing repairs or replacements per technical specifications or requirements.
  • Take first call on all facility devices, coordinate vendors, and provide timely follow-up to customers.
  • Research and order parts to perform repairs and maintenance.
  • Provide technical in-service or instruction to facility staff on the proper operation of patient care equipment.
  • Demonstrate cost containment and financial acumen.
  • Maintain good personal relationships with co-workers, hospital staff, and vendors.
  • Act as supervisor in the absence of the direct manager.
  • Mentor and train Biomedical Equipment Technicians and apprentices.
  • Meet department performance indicator standards on a regular basis.
  • Maintain a clean and safe workspace.
  • Participate in facility on-call rotation.
  • Comply with all facility-specific policies and procedures.
  • Work closely with management to develop and implement a plan for professional growth.
  • Handle medical device recalls and safety alerts; coordinate with manufacturers and vendors to resolve issues promptly.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
