Chef Thomas Keller's renowned New York destination, Per Se, is looking for a dynamic individual enthusiastic about food, beverage, and hospitality to join us as Head Steward. In this role , you will work under the guidance of our Chef de Cuisine and General Manager.  

Join our dedicated team as a Head Steward , where you will act as the primary liaison with vendors, overseeing the intake, organization, and storage of all property-related purchases, including food, beverages, linens, supplies, and dry goods, ensuring seamless operations and o ptimal inventory management.  

Located in the Deutsche Bank Center at Columbus Circle, Per Se is Chef Keller's acclaimed New York interpretation of The French Laundry. The three-starred Michelin restaurant presents a nightly-changing Chef's Tasting menu highlighting American cuisine with French influences.  

Responsibilities:  

  • Inspect and Audit Deliveries: Verify all incoming items for correct weight, quality, quantity, and brand, ensuring they meet property standards.  
  • Organize and Store Inventory: Properly store, consolidate, and manage all incoming products, including cleaning supplies, dry goods, produce, seafood, and office supplies.  
  • Vendor Sourcing and Pricing Management: Collaborate with the Chef de Cuisine and General Manager to source new vendors, monitor pricing, and ensure optimal product value while addressing any fluctuations.  
  • Oversee Inventory and Ordering: Monitor inventory levels, place necessary orders, and conduct monthly inventory audits in alignment with restaurant needs.  
  • Manage Porter Team and Scheduling: Supervise, schedule, and oversee porters, ensuring all areas are staffed efficiently and in line with labor cost objectives.  
  • Maintain Cleanliness and Compliance: Ensure all storage areas remain clean and organized while adhering to health, safety, and labor regulations.  
Qualifications:  

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the hospitality industry, with a preference for those who have worked in recognized establishments.   
  • A State Health Certification is preferred.  
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills and a keen attention to detail.   
  • Strong management, delegation, and prioritization skills are essential.  
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing situations and handle various demands with a positive attitude.   
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic setting.   
  • Desire for excellence in food, beverage, and hospitality.   
  • Able to reach, bend, stoop, and frequently lift up to 50 lbs.
