Job Title: Sous Chef

$18-$25 per hour

Location:  New York, NY

 

About Us:  A New Mediterranean restaurant, bringing a vibrant Mediterranean dining experience to Manhattan. We are seeking experienced and passionate Line Cooks to run our kitchen and help bring fresh and modern dishes to our guests.

Position Overview:  As a Line Cook, you will be responsible for the preparation and cooking of dishes while ensuring the highest culinary standards. This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of a new restaurant opening and make a lasting impact on our guests.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Quality Control:  Maintain the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and safety in compliance with health regulations.

  • Culinary Standard: Preparing and executing dishes set by the Executive Chef and CDC in a timely fashion to ensure a smooth service. Demonstrating knowledge of dishes on and off your station.
  • Inventory Management:  Minimizing waste and employing a systematic use of ingredients to move product in an efficient fashion.

  • Communication:  Keeps consistent and calm communication with fellow staff members in a respectable manner. Working with the rest of the kitchen team to bring orders on time.

  • Cleanliness Standard: Keep station and kitchen clean and up to health code at all times.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Line Cook or in a similar role in a high-volume restaurant.

  • Culinary degree or equivalent experience is preferred.

  • Leadership skills with the ability to take and follow orders.

  • Exceptional palate and creativity in dish presentation and flavor combinations.

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

  • Ability to lift 30+ pounds.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain composure under pressure.

  • Availability to work nights, weekends and holidays.

  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.

  • Certification in NYC Food Protection License recommended.
