We are looking for a Product Development Engineer to join our Greenwood, IN facility. The Product Development Engineer will design sheet metal packaging systems for orthopedic and surgical instruments.
What You’ll Do:
- Works with customers, engineers, and marketing departments to determine optimum design parameters and layouts to secure instruments and devices in brackets in the case and/or tray systems
- Works with customer engineering and marketing departments to determine labeling requirements including logo designs, instrument graphics, part numbers and processing instructions
- Works with sales departments along with customer engineering and marketing departments to complete “New Product Definition” requirements form to initiate all projects
- Maintains all engineering records/documents in accordance with ISO 13485 quality system and applicable regulations
- Maintains e-mail records of all communications including general discussions, change requests, customer approvals, etc. as part of the Design Development file for each individual project
- Maintains a log of customer “Change Requests” and responds with a “Project Impact Report” for all customer changes. Notifies Management and Sales Departments of all change requests immediately so they can evaluate impact on pricing, delivery schedules, and monthly pending sales
- Works with document control to produce the correct bill of materials and the correct revision drawings in order to initiate the issuance of purchase orders for the customer project
- Works with Vendors to explain/develop design requirements, certifications or adjustments that could be acceptable within the customers’ design parameters
- Coordinates prototype assembly efforts with the manufacturing staff as required by the VP of Manufacturing and assists with production assembly for design projects as necessary
- May attend conventions to assess new product designs and meet with current and/or prospective customers

What You’ll Need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering Design plus two or more years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience and knowledge in Creo and Pro-E Design Software
- Strong background demonstrating proficiency with problem-solving and root cause analysis tools
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds
