Job Description :
Carle Foundation Hospital is seeking a dedicated Echocardiographic Sonographer to join our Cardiovascular Services team for a 12-week contract with the possibility of extension. The selected candidate will perform routine and complex echocardiographic sonography imaging procedures, ensuring high-quality standards and providing compassionate care to our patients. This role requires attention to detail, effective multitasking, and collaboration within a team environment.
Key Responsibilities :
- Imaging Procedures :
- Perform various echocardiographic tests, including Exercise Stress, Dobutamine Stress, Pediatric Echoes, Transesophageal Echoes, and standard Echocardiograms.
- Ensure optimal positioning and equipment alignment to meet imaging quality standards.
- Quality Control & Accuracy :
- Review patient data for accuracy, completeness, and quality prior to imaging.
- Critique imaging procedures and ensure high-quality diagnostic results for physician review.
- Documentation & System Updates :
- Accurately document all procedures and enter charges in the Epic system.
- Complete preliminary information in the Xcelera system for physician review.
- Patient Care & Compassion :
- Provide compassionate care and ensure a positive patient experience.
- Manage patient flow efficiently while prioritizing tasks to meet service needs.
- Collaboration & Cross-Training :
- Collaborate with team members and cross-train within other divisions of Cardiovascular Services.
- On-Call Responsibilities :
- Participate in rotating on-call schedule for evenings and weekends.

- Remain open to feedback and engage in teaching opportunities.
Skills & Experience :
Required Skills & Experience :
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as an Echocardiographic Sonographer.
- Positive attitude and proven ability to assess and improve the work environment.
- Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks effectively.
Required Education :
- Associate's Degree in Ultrasound or related field.
Required Certifications :
- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) through ARDMS. OR
- Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (CCI).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (American Heart Association).
Languages :
- Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
