Weekly Pay: $5800
The position is Full time (40hrs/wk) which includes rotating shifts plus call obligation (including weekend and holiday rotations). A 30-minute response time is required when on call.
As assigned, a perfusionist performs (under the supervision of a licensed physician and according to prescribed procedures) those functions necessary for the support and treatment of the cardiopulmonary system of an adult patient. A perfusionist performs advanced technical work in the selection, preparation, operation, and maintenance of the heart/lung machine and accessory equipment.
The work area is primarily the operating room, but the possibility exists for working throughout the hospital (i.e.: Cath Lab, Emergency Room and ICU).
Responsibilities:
•Provide perfusion support for elective and STAT adult open-heart procedures (CABG, AVR, MVR, Aortic Repairs, AngioVac, Heart Transplants, ECMO and Acute VADs)
• Provide perfusion support for non-cardiac procedures such as:
• Liver Transplants
• HIPEC
• ECMO (VV)
• Autologous Blood Recovery
• Provide perfusion support for cardiac support devices:
• IABP
• Impella CP, 5.5 and RP Flex
• ProTek Duo
• ECMO (VA)
• CentriMag
• HeartMate 3
• Safely conduct perfusion scope of practice in accordance with the guidelines and policies of Hartford Hospital and the Department of Cardiovascular Perfusion.
• Administer medications, blood components, and anesthetic agents under the supervision of the attending physicians.
• Perform equipment maintenance and checklists as required.
• Make appropriate changes in therapy after consultation with the attending physician(s).
• Maintain equipment and supplies.
• Perform documentation associated with described responsibilities.
• Maintain proficiency with accessory equipment and procedures.
• Participate as assigned with the ordering and maintenance of supplies..
• Participate with development and revision of policy and procedure, performance improvement, quality management, and staff education.
• Assists other staff members and hospital personnel in completion of needed tasks; and makes patient care and/or interdepartmental service the number one priority.
• Perform duties and responsibilities according to the philosophy and standards of Hartford Hospital, including conveying courtesy, respect, enthusiasm, and positive attitude in work situations with patients, peers, medical staff, and visitors.
