RN - Day Surgery PRN at Parkridge East Hospital summary:

The Registered Nurse in Day Surgery provides direct patient care in a dynamic surgical environment, using therapeutic communication and maintaining patient safety. This nursing role involves preparing surgical patients, administering medications, and collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Interested candidates must hold a valid RN license and have at least one year of medical/surgical experience.

Surgery?Nurse? 

The Registered Nurse performs direct patient care within the scope of the Registered Nurse Practice Act.?? 

Utilizes therapeutic communication in daily practice.?Maintains a safe therapeutic environment.?Identifies?nursing problems as they relate to the individual needs of the patient. Registered Nurse plans individualized patient care while?utilizing?an interdisciplinary approach.?Participates in performance improvement activities.?Provides care and coordinates participation that fosters the goals of the hospital’s mission and vision statement.?

What you will do in this role:? 

• Exhibits competency with skin prep of the surgical patient.? 

• Demonstrates ability to start and?maintain?IV,?initiate?and monitor intravenous infusions of medications and/or blood products.? 

• Recognize and?demonstrate?treatment for IV complications.? 

• Ability to collect specimens according to hospital policy following physician orders.? 

• Competently performs EKGs.? 

• Properly administers medication?in accordance with?physician order and hospital policy.?

What qualifications you will need:?? 

• Education: Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing? 

• Licensure/Certification: Current TN RN or Compact State License in state of residence; American Heart? 

• Association BLS (within?90 days?of hire);?ACLS and PALS (within 6 months of hire)?required.? 

• Experience: One-year med/surg?experience?required; one-year ambulatory experience preferred? 

Parkridge East Hospital is a 120+ bed facility in East Ridge. We provide a full range of medical and surgical services. These services include orthopedics and robotic surgery. We have a 24/7 Emergency Department. This ED is recognized by the Society of Chest Pain Centers as an Accredited Chest Pain Center. The facility also offers obstetrical care and complex gynecological procedures. We also hold a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Specialized providers in the NICU include neonatologists, neonatal nurses and respiratory therapists. These staff are on site at all times. Visit us for excellent general and OB care!
