JOB DESCRIPTION:
A RN Supervisor is responsible for oversight of the day-to-day clinical activities of health care personnel, such as LPNs and CNAs, while maintaining a safe environment for residents and striving to meet maximum security and comfort needs. Able to interpret patient information. Make critical decisions about necessary actions, as well as administer medication, wound care and other personalized interventions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leadership:
• Is responsible for the care and safety of all residents, ensuring that individual
care plans are current, implemented and revised as necessary.
• Is responsible for the supervision of the team leaders and certified nursing
assistants, trainees.
• Is responsible for the safety of the building and taking appropriate action where
indicated- notifying the DON/ADON, Administrator and/or police and fire
departments.
• Is responsible for addressing family/visitor concerns, taking appropriate action as
indicated.
• Is responsible for and oversees off hours access to cash for residents in the
absence of the business office manager.
• Receives medication deliveries from the pharmacy.
• Is responsible for the supervision of the team leaders in the administration and
documentation of medications, treatments and other nursing services.
• Possess knowledge of the facility’s policies and procedures, shall abide by these
policies and shall ensure that the staff are informed of and correctly carries out
these policies.
• Is responsible for informing staff of changes in policies and procedures and
provides continuing education to improve the care and safety of the residents.
• Ensures that all employees under their supervision are in compliance with the
facility dress code.
• Maintains HIPAA, privacy, security and confidentiality standards.
• Maintains Corporate Compliance standards.
• Follows safety procedures by keeping areas free of hazardous conditions.
• Is economical and careful with equipment and supplies.
• Comes to work as scheduled and consistently demonstrates dependability and
punctuality.
• Continuously exhibits and fosters a spirit of teamwork, positive attitude and
conflict resolution among co-workers.
• Performs duties with measured accuracy and timeliness. Sets high standards, seeking to “raise the bar”, exhibits commitment to strive for
and exceed expectations.

• Performs any other necessary duties as assigned by supervisor.
Care and Treatment of Residents:
• Is responsible for a comprehensive assessment of a resident’s physical, and/or
mental status when indicated; and appropriate follow-up as indicated by the
assessment.
• Is responsible for receiving report from the off going shift. Makes rounds,
assessing the needs of the residents.
• Is responsible for reporting any pertinent information regarding residents and the
building to the oncoming shift.
• Is responsible for assisting the team leaders and nursing assistants in the
understanding of individual resident’s needs and implementation of their care
plan.
• Is responsible for ensuring that comprehensive care plans are revised and
updated as indicated, by a change in the resident’s condition and/or change in
physician orders.
• Is responsible for ensuring that the designated representative is notified of any
change in the resident’s condition or plan of care.
• Is responsible for ensuring that the physician (provider) is informed of any
change in the resident’s condition, abnormal lab results, diagnostic test results,
consultant recommendations, etc.
• Is responsible for ensuring that the physician (provider) orders are transcribed
accurately and completely; medications and labs ordered, if necessary.
• Is responsible for supervising the preparation of accident/incident reports and for
detecting and correcting situations that have a high risk of causing injury to
residents.
• Is responsible for ensuring that appropriate information is sent with residents
upon transfer, and that advanced directives are sent to the receiving facility.
• Maintains resident rights.
• Has been fit- tested with and knows the location of a maintenance free respirato
REQUIREMENTS:
New York State Registered Professional Nurse licensure
Experience in long-term care facility preferred
Able to interpret patient information and make critical decisions about necessary actions
Ability to supervise and work well with and show respect toward other health care personnel (i.e., CNAs, LPNs, physicians, etc.), residents and their family members
Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to follow written and verbal instructions
Able to perform tasks while upholding high standards of quality, cleanliness and kindness
Physical endurance for frequent activity; ability to lift a minimum of 20 pounds
