Overview
To set the creative vision and oversee end-to-end content development and execution for the credit union, working with internal talent and external agency partners to build the Navy Federal Credit Union brand and business. Strategic and creative thinker, leveraging data and insights to inspire fresh concepts, design, messaging systems, and integrated campaigns. Create compelling and powerful communications across all audiences and deliver innovative ideas with extensive scope that align to the enterprise strategy priorities across brand identity, brand and product marketing, events, partnerships, digital platforms, and content. Serve as subject matter expert on projects ranging from employer branding to digital and in-person brand experiences. Anticipate internal and/or external business challenges and/or regulatory issues; recommend and oversee implementation of process, product, or service improvements.
Responsibilities
Lead the design and copy team, establish the creative bar, and build brand identities, design language, voice, expression guidelines, and compliance
Advocate and be a leader for brand vision and the use of creative power as a business driver
Partner with strategy leads to develop unified, single-minded creative briefs and robust solutions
Shape creative strategy and execution with a digital-first mindset
Build relationships with cross-functional partners and performance marketers to understand key business problems and bring a strong perspective on how creative can help solve challenges
Scale creative ideas up or down as needed to satisfy the brief while staying on budget, ensuring the highest quality standards, and accomplishing business goals
Concept and execute compelling and creative storytelling across touchpoints and platforms from inception through final production
Work seamlessly with agencies and third-party vendors
Work cross-functionally to support product quality and standard methodologies for brand consistency across marketing campaigns
Work with senior leadership to constantly evolve and refine workflows
Maintain a current understanding of marketing trends and best practices
Leverage technology, data insights, and creative tools to deploy innovative initiatives
Facilitate the conceptual framework for all projects and assess project performance
Review creative output ensuring direct reports are effectively managing goals and priorities within their scope and areas of accountability
Drive high-level creative and operational excellence across the team to maximize business value (internal and external) while building a culture of creativity
Manage multiple priorities simultaneously, demonstrate strong judgement and attention to detail, take ownership and be a team player, with the ability to work within a complex organization
Perform supervisory/managerial responsibilities
Ensure adequate/skilled staffing; select employees
Oversee talent development/succession planning
Establish performance goals and priorities
Prepare, conduct and review performance appraisals
Develop, mentor and counsel staff
Provide input and/or prepare budget requirements for Annual Financial Plan (AFP)
Ensure efficiency of operations
Perform other duties assigned
Qualifications
Advanced knowledge of marketing principles such as branding, promotions, production, communications, direct marketing, product life cycles, business strategies
Extensive experience within a marketing/advertising agency including campaign management and ancillary marketing services
Significant experience interacting with staff, management, vendors and members diplomatically and tactfully
Experience supervising, leading, motivating, and retaining team members while achieving productive results
Extensive experience in composing correspondence that adheres to grammar and Navy Federal writing style and standards
Advanced skill in results-oriented leadership in a challenging environment
Advanced skill maintaining accuracy with attention to detail and meeting deadlines
Expert knowledge of PC and web/internet based technologies e.g. HTML, trends/issues, management, editing/authoring tools and development
Advanced skill to influence, negotiate and persuade to reach agreeable exchange and positive outcomes
Experience managing cross-functional, multi-dimensional teams and projects of the highest complexity which have business risk and impact
Experience working in Agile SAFE practices.
Expert verbal and written communication skills
Working knowledge of financial products, services, and programs
Desired Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Graphic Design, Art Direction, Marketing, Advertising, Communications or a related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:30AM - 5:00PM
