Job Description: Medical Laboratory Scientist
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our team. As a Medical Laboratory Scientist, you will play a critical role in the diagnosis and treatment of patients by performing high-quality laboratory tests and analyses. You will work closely with healthcare providers to ensure accurate and timely results that are essential for patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform a variety of laboratory tests, including hematology, chemistry, microbiology, blood bank, and immunology, according to established protocols and procedures.
  • Analyze and interpret test results, ensuring accuracy, precision, and consistency.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, performing routine calibration, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance.
  • Prepare and process specimens, ensuring proper labeling, handling, and storage.
  • Document results accurately in the laboratory information system (LIS), maintaining patient confidentiality and complying with regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with physicians and healthcare teams to provide accurate and timely test results that inform patient care decisions.
  • Adhere to laboratory safety guidelines, infection control protocols, and regulatory compliance standards.
  • Participate in quality assurance and quality control activities to maintain high standards of laboratory practice.
  • Stay current with advancements in laboratory science and technology through continuing education and professional development.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field.
  • Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent certification.
  • State licensure as required (if applicable).
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory techniques, procedures, and safety protocols.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with healthcare teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a clinical laboratory setting.
  • Knowledge of specialized testing and equipment used in laboratory procedures.
  • Certification in specialized laboratory areas (e.g., microbiology, blood bank, or clinical chemistry).
