Description The Director of Advancement is responsible for the identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of a portfolio of prospects and donors to support the Mission of YMCA OC. This position reports to the VP of Advancement, Marketing and Communications and works closely with organizational leadership, board members, and YMCA OC volunteers. Relies on experience, technical training, and independent judgment to perform specialized director-level and corporate work.
Responsibilities/Duties: - Identify and manage a portfolio of qualified major and planned giving donors and prospects to ensure positive and purposeful relationship development; set and carry out solicitation strategies. Major gifts defined as $100K+.
- Build and manage a portfolio of approximately 100-150 prospects and donors for major and planned gifts to support the YMCA OC
- Identify and develop strategic projects and initiatives for donor acquisition and then execute strategies toward effective major gift cultivation and solicitation.
- Partner with and YMCA staff and volunteers in identification, advocacy, introduction, cultivation, and solicitation toward securing major gift support.
- Ensure customized moves management plans and key relationship management assignments are created and implemented for major and planned giving donors and prospects.
- Utilize reports and strategic deliverables and tactics to facilitate moves management of prospects and to achieve goals.
- Meet specific activity, request, and fundraising targets.
- Articulate the case for support, through oral and written means, so that donors engage and support the mission.
- Steward donors who show an interest in giving to specific projects by designing strategies to retain their interest.
- Provide annual assessment of high impact board members, ambassadors and volunteers; alert to any/all successes and challenging areas.
- Provide timely, written reports regarding the outcome of cultivation and solicitation actions, and track activity.
- Develop case for support documents, collateral, and other request materials as needed.
- Assure implementation of timely donor acknowledgments, stewardship, and recognition.
- Demonstrate flexible and efficient time management and ability to prioritize workload.
- Maintain official records and documents, and ensure compliance with federal, state and local laws and regulations especially as they pertain to nonprofit organizations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Education & Certification: - 4-year college degree required in related field, Masters preferred.

- A track record as an effective communicator skilled at writing and verbally; adept at writing proposals, solicitation letters, donor correspondence, and other kinds of material to enhance fundraising.•Proficiency in Windows/Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, etc.) and have experience with database software. Raiser's Edge experience preferred.
