As a part-time Library Assistant for our Queen Creek Library, you will provide routine customer service, service routing, and clerical work for the library. Your role will be essential in guiding our customers to explore and use our library services.

We Require

• Two years of customer service experience
• High school diploma or GED
• Post-secondary education may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis

We Also Value

• Experience with library-related automation systems, such as Polaris ILS
• Experience with information retrieval from library-related databases
• Experience working or volunteering in a public library
• Experience assisting customers with online account payments and account management
• Bilingual skills in Spanish and English

Job Contributions

• Issue, verify, and renew library cards and inform customers of their account status
• Resolve customer concerns by phone, in person, or e-mail and refer escalated customer concerns to appropriate staff members or supervisors
• Assist customers with the self-service payment kiosk and answer reference questions
• Process library materials for shelving and routing and assist with maintenance and display of the collection
• Light cleaning duties, such as dusting, straightening, and bathroom tidying
• Initiate search for materials claimed as "returned"

Working Conditions

• Library environment requiring evening and weekend availability
• Ability to cover shifts at nearby library branches
• Ability lift up to 20 pounds floor-to-waist; lift up to 5 pounds waist-to-shoulder, lift 1 pound shoulder-to-overhead, carry up to 10 pounds a distance of up to 50 feet, and push/pull up to 50 pounds a distance of 100 feet
