DescriptionAn Attorney II is a mid-level attorney with 4-6 years’ experience practicing law. The successful Attorney II is self-directed and thrives with lots of support and autonomy. The Attorney II generally receives a substantial portion (approximately 75%) of their work through Gravis Law’s lead generation and marketing and/or other attorneys in the office. An Attorney II is expected to generate a portion (25%) of their own billable work and attend four events per quarter. Attorneys have access to coaching and support services for business development and networking. The Firm prioritizes a work-life integration, a collaborative culture, and a competitive compensation & incentive structure that is unique to the industry.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Mediation experienceTrial experienceResearching and analyzing the law on complex legal issuesWriting memorandums, briefs, letters, and other documentsProfessional attitude with a strong sense of discretion to keep sensitive information secure and privateExcellent interpersonal communication skills when working with clients, members of the court, and other employeesStrong organizational abilities and time management skills to handle many cases at onceMarketing your and the firm’s services to prospective clientsPerforming discovery of various electronically stored data and hard copies of information in preparation for litigationPerforming due diligence in legal matters concerning contracts, agreements, and mergers and acquisitionsManaging a schedule to allow for consults and closure of consults to sufficiently reach production/collection objectives. Depending on practice area, this may include outside core hours and weekend consults.Closing consults within Gravis range of 30-50% depending on practice area.Timely approval of invoices is critical to the health of the business on a month-to-month basis. Failure to do so on a recurring basis may result in disciplinary action.Ensure support staff are fully utilized and productive.Accurately and completely update CC with fees, engagement, trust, client information, invoices, etc. as required.If over-subscribed, share work tasks with other attorneys and support staff to ensure we are meeting our objective to serve our communities.Actively engage in brand (personal and firm) expansion through blogs, social media posts, board, and organization participation, etc.Actively seek positive comments from successful client engagements and positive star reviews.Communicating and advising clientsPerforming other job-related duties as assigned.The Attorney is expected to bill an average of 1500 hours annually, with collections expected on 1400 hours of invoices worked while working a full-time employment schedule. This roughly translates to billing 30 hours per week at 50 weeks annually.RequirementsMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Excellent writing and interpersonal skills.Excellent legal research skills.Juris Doctor degree from an American Bar Association accredited law school.Admission (or eligibility for reciprocal admission) to the bar in the state in which you intend to practice.4-6 years of experience as an attorney.*Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be substituted.WORK ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Duties will be performed in a standard office environment. Employees must have the ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with Gravis policy.
