As Instawork’s third full-time lawyer, you will help close deals with customers and vendors, provide advice to cross-functional teams, partner on cross-departmental product and compliance issues, and more (so very much more). Reporting to our Deputy General Counsel , this role expands a small but scrappy Legal team and will be responsible for helping to scale legal functions at a company named one of Forbes’s 25 Next Billion Dollar Startups.What You'll Do Partner with Sales and Finance to close customer dealsReview, redline, and approve sales agreements, vendor agreements, and NDAsBuild and update playbooks and template documents and maintain our contract lifecycle management platformSupport corporate development team in due diligence and contracts associated with corporate transactionsDevelop, implement, and improve scalable processes for the legal teamWork with revenue enablement to improve sales team trainingReview and revise company policiesAdvise business and product teams on privacy and other compliance issuesOther projects based on the needs of a quickly growing international companyWho You Are JD and California bar admission in good standing (or barred in NY or IL and qualified for and willing to maintain Registered In-House Counsel status with California State Bar)5+ years of legal experience in a law firm including 1-2+ years in-houseDetail- and process-oriented mentalityMature judgment and decision-making skillsAbility to translate complex concepts and competing priorities into digestible guidanceTeam mentality and recognition that no task is too smallComposure managing multiple projects with overlapping deadlinesExcellent verbal and written communication skillsSense of perspective…and humorNice to have : privacy and product counseling experienceFor CA based applicants: The base salary for this position is $175,000 - $225,000This position is eligible for equity in the form of stock optionsThis position is eligible for Instawork benefits, including:A variety of medical, dental, and vision plans with coverage beginning on the date of hireFlexible paid time offAt least 8 paid company holidays annuallyHome office stipendPhone stipendCommuter stipendSupplemental pay on qualified leavesEmployee health savings accounts (HSA) contributionFlexible spending plans401K planPerkspot - discount program through LumityA variety of factors are considered when determining someone’s compensation including a candidate’s professional background, experience, and location.
