The role carries significant responsibilities and authority to guide the Financial Planning & Analysis Department by developing reports, analysis, and timely recommendations to the business for decision-making purposes and to support strategic initiatives. The scope of the work includes coordination & consolidation of the Business Plan activities; preparing presentations to the Senior Management Team; preparation of business performance reports; and supporting the external reporting team in the preparation of external financial statements. The role reports directly to the Head of Corporate FP&A.Principal Duties and Responsibilities:Lead the activities of the Financial Planning and Analysis department.Coordinate & consolidate the Corporate Business Plans (Preliminary and Final), as well as develop 5yr Business Plans.Develop management reports to assess current performance against plan(s), and likelihood/risks of delivering on forecast.Monitor actual results and compare to prior periods, goals, etc.Develop and coordinate the monthly and quarterly assessment of P&L and Cash-flow performance. Define reports to zoom-in on variances and corrective actions.Define and enhance reports related to Home-building performance, including operating metrics, revenue, sales incentives, COGS and corporate expenses (Corporate OH, Marketing, SG&A, etc.)Ensure reports and schedules prepared by staff prior to distribution reflect the expectations for accuracy, formatting, cross-referencing, and reasonableness.Ensure completion of the Corporate Actual vs. Plan analysis, working closely with the various corporate departments to compile the monthly/quarterly Management Reporting package, quarterly Risk Presentations, and various monthly/quarterly financial reports to various departments.Assist with the ad-hoc analysis requests as well as forecast and process automation/reporting improvements.Function as primary liaison with the Head of Corporate FP&A, CFO, and Senior Management.Other duties and special projects assigned by the Senior Management.Education and Experience Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in business, Economics, Accounting and/or related field. CFA/MBA is a plus.12-15 years’ experience in Financial/Management reporting.Experience with spreadsheet modeling, account reconciliation, and analysis.Physical Requirements:This is primarily a headquarter-based office position which requires the incumbent to have the ability to operate computer equipment, speak, hear, bend, stoop, reach, lift, and move and carry up to 25 lbs. Finger dexterity is necessary.Additional Requirements:Must have experience in formal supervision and development of subordinates.Must possess strong analytical and technical accounting research skills.Must be able to navigate computers, with high proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and JD Edwards.Detail-oriented to ensure accuracy in analysis and presentations.Ability to read, research, analyze and interpret general accounting data.Ability to write reports and general business correspondence across all levels of the organization, including executive management.Ability to formulate effective and efficient work plans (focusing on relevant variables) for analysis projects as well as to identify key areas of reporting improvement.High initiative and ability to learn independently in a fast-paced environment and perform with minimal supervision through ambiguity and complexity.This description outlines the basic responsibilities and requirements for the position noted.
