Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Family Law Litigation Paralegal for our client in New Orleans! As a critical member of the legal team, you will support an attorney in managing family law cases from initiation through resolution.
Pay:
  • $24.00-$41.00

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in drafting, reviewing, and filing family law pleadings, motions, and court documents (e.g., petitions, discovery requests, subpoenas, child custody agreements, and financial affidavits).
  • Maintain case files and ensure all documentation is organized and accessible.
  • Track deadlines and ensure compliance with court rules and filing requirements.
  • Discovery and Trial Preparation
  • Coordinate discovery efforts, including collecting, organizing, and summarizing documents and information from clients and opposing counsel.
  • Prepare exhibits, witness lists, trial notebooks, and other materials for hearings, depositions, and trials.
  • Assist attorneys in drafting interrogatories, subpoenas, and other discovery-related documents.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing updates and answering questions regarding case status and requirements.
  • Conduct client interviews and gather relevant case information, including financial and custody-related details.
  • Manage client communications and maintain confidentiality.
  • Schedule appointments, mediations, depositions, and court hearings.
  • Coordinate with court personnel and opposing counsel for filings and scheduling matters.
  • Prepare and submit billing and expense reports for attorney review.
  • Perform legal research on family law issues, such as divorce, custody, child support, and alimony.
  • Summarize case law, statutes, and regulations for attorney use.
Qualifications:
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies or a related field; Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved program preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a paralegal in family law litigation.
  • Proficiency in legal software.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
  • Strong research skills, including proficiency with Westlaw, LexisNexis, or other legal research tools.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
