CLA is currently seeking a Workers Compensation Paralegal for a well-established law firm in Columbia, SC. The candidate needs to have at least 2 to 3 years of recent workers compensation experience in a law firm, preferably on the Plaintiff side, but Defense experience is also welcomed. The candidate should be able to multitask, handle confidential cases, and be eager to learn!
Example Job Responsibilities:
- Handling all aspects of workers compensation cases from the initial client intake meeting through resolution and disbursement
- Guide clients through the case process
- Organize and maintain documents in an electronic filing system.
- Keep track of and adhere to filing deadlines.
- Gather and arrange evidence including medical records and other legal documents for attorney review and case preparation.
- Draft correspondence and legal documents
- Call clients, witnesses, lawyers, physicians offices, and outside vendors to gather information, get updates, schedule interviews and meetings for attorneys.
- Administrative duties that include entering client notes, drafting letters and other case-specific documents, summarizing medical records, etc.
- Assisting the attorneys with correspondence and other administrative duties as assigned
Minimum and Additional Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience
- Paralegal certificate preferred, but not required
- 2-3 years of recent workers compensation experience in a law firm
- Previous experience in personal injury and auto accidents is helpful but not required
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Windows, and other case management software
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
