Tommy’s is looking for a Director of Legal / General Counsel to lead all aspects of legal and compliance documentation and services to the company. This role will provide strategic guidance, consultation, and support to the executive team and department leaders on a comprehensive range of legal and associated issues and documentation both on the franchising side and internal business operations.What can Tommy's offer you?Base pay and eligibility for annual profit-sharing bonusFull insurance package including Health, Dental, Vision, Life, Disability, Employee Assistance401k match and complimentary financial planning servicesPaid time off and paid holidaysOpportunity for continued education and tuition assistanceValuable learning and development programSignificant ability to grow internally for motivated and strong performing team membersFun, energetic, family-oriented work culture with an emphasis on team member moraleGrowing nationwide brand / presencePosition Responsibilities:Serve as first response on all legal claims against the company and creating the strategy to respondRepresent company in legal communications and hearingsManage all IP and trademarks, including internationallyHelp draft and oversee all internal business documents including purchase agreements for product customers, vendor agreements, area development agreements for real estate, HR employment agreements, etc.Oversee and approve franchise agreements and related exhibits, franchise documentation and complianceDraft new templates and unique agreements as needed in all areas of the businessOversee updating and annual filing of the FDD and other legal documents with franchise administration teamPartner with franchise operations team on a compliance process to keep franchise operators in line with franchise agreementsSupport real estate acquisition by drafting purchase agreements, reviewing title work and easements, negotiating extensions, etc.Proactively engage with department leaders and functions to identify and manage risks to protect company assetsManage external attorney network – international franchise attorneys, IP / trademark attorneys, litigation partners, etc.Other duties as assigned; duties and responsibilities may change at any time with or without notice.Position Qualifications & Candidate Attributes:Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law schoolVast experience drafting and reviewing various types of legal documentation and agreements; experience with franchising documentation strongly preferredStrong knowledge of IP / trademark law including internationallyTechnical savvy and proficient in Microsoft OfficeExcellent written and oral communication skillsProcess-oriented and strong collaborator with ability to communicate and manage well at all levels of the organization and across various departmentsStrong organizational and time management skills; ability to multitask and prioritize workloadHighly adaptable with strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills; ability to exercise good judgment and make sound data-backed decisionsHigh level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientationViews customer care as high priority; exhibits a positive can-do attitudeDisplays a strong initiative and drive to identify gaps and fill themWork Environment and Physical Demands:This job operates in a professional office environment. Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00am - 5:00pm.
