Job Summary:
We are seeking a talented and experienced Mechanical Designer to join our client's dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating detailed 3D models and 2D drawings of complex sheet metal fabrications and weldments for our client. Your expertise in SolidWorks and deep understanding of manufacturing processes will be crucial in delivering high-quality, innovative designs that meet both functional and aesthetic requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Develop intricate 3D models and 2D drawings of sheet metal components and assemblies using SolidWorks.
- Collaborate closely with engineers, manufacturing teams, and clients to ensure design feasibility, manufacturability, and adherence to project specifications.
- Generate comprehensive Bills of Materials (BOMs) and other essential documentation.
- Conduct rigorous tolerance and stress analyses to verify design integrity and optimize performance.
- Create and maintain detailed assembly and component drawings, including GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) where applicable.
- Research and select appropriate materials and components, considering factors such as cost, availability, and performance characteristics.
- Stay abreast of the latest industry standards, best practices, and advancements in sheet metal fabrication and welding technologies.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the design and manufacturing processes.
Qualifications:
- Associate's Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Drafting & Design, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of proven experience in designing sheet metal fabrications and weldments.
- Exceptional proficiency in SolidWorks, including 3D modeling, surface modeling, and 2D drafting.
- In-depth knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes (e.g., bending, stamping, forming) and welding techniques.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing principles, including tolerances, GD&T, and lean manufacturing concepts.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
- Meticulous attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy in all work.
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team environment.
