Description The Director of Alumni Relations collaborates with the Director of Advancement and the Development team to cultivate, solicit and steward a portfolio of key leadership alumni and parents of alumni donors. The Director will create, enhance and execute programs, activities and communications that strengthen the relationship between the School and alumni and parents of alumni.
- Establish and build relationships with a wide range of alumni, locally, regionally and nationally to develop and strengthen their connection with the School and with one another
- Organize and execute alumni gatherings and events such as:
- Annual reunions
- Regional gatherings
- BIPOC Alumni Gathering
- Gathering for alumni who are also current parents
- Hall of Fame event (every three years) to honor alumni who were elite student-athletes, in collaboration with the Athletics Department
- Other events and gatherings as opportunities arise
- In partnership with the Development team, curate and manage a portfolio of leadership donors and prospects (alumni and parents of alumni)
- Manage Alumni Advisory Board and other alumni volunteers
- Create and and implement programs and projects that strategically engage alumni, including:
- Gatherings or events based on interests and/or identity
- Create and maintain curated programs for Seniors and young alumni such as the Internship program
- Collaborate with the Communications team to:
- Develop and publish monthly alumni profiles on the website and via social media to highlight alumni accomplishments and share these with the greater School community
- Conceive, research, solicit for and write alumni-related content for the annual Cross Sections magazine
- Work with colleagues across campus to support school programming and engage alumni when appropriate
- Oversee the Alumni Relations budget; within the annual program budget, manage existing and/or additional alumni programs, services and communications
- Supervise the Alumni Relations Associate
Qualifications - A minimum of three years of experience in alumni relations and/or external affairs with demonstrated accomplishment in fostering productive relationships with volunteers and developing volunteer leadership
- Comfort in soliciting funds from donors through face-to-face visits, proposals and other approaches as needed
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, together with the ability to work collaboratively and courteously with colleagues and constituents
- Demonstrated ability to strategize, implement and build constituency programs and activities, along with a talent for motivating volunteers
- Strong writing, planning and organizational skills
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Flexibility and initiative, as well as the ability to work independently
- High professional and ethical standards for handling confidential information
- Experience with Raiser's Edge or a similar constituent database
- Ability to travel and work evenings and weekends as needed
- Bachelor's degree
