Position TitleBiomed Equip Tech IIOlathe Medical Center Main Hospital 20333 W. 151st St.Position Summary / Career Interest:Under moderate supervision the Biomedical Equipment Technician II will perform repair, calibration, preventive maintenance, inspection, and installation of a diverse range of diagnostic, therapeutic, and physiological monitoring equipment and systems used in direct patient care, including high risk and life support equipment.By following policies, procedures, and standards, they will assure compliance of the equipment they are responsible for and also assume responsibility for risk and safety issues associated with the position. When necessary, the employee will participate in performance improvement activities. Utilizing resources efficiently and effectively is a primary function of the position. It is the responsibility of the employee to bring ideas/concerns to their supervisor and participate in department decision-making.Responsibilities and Essential Job FunctionsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs. Performs repair, calibration, preventive maintenance, inspection, and installation of a diverse range of diagnostic, therapeutic, and physiological monitoring equipment and systems used in direct patient care, including high risk and life support equipment. Diagnose and correct system and equipment malfunctions. Ability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, illustrated parts drawings, and flow charts of biomedical instrumentation. Have basic knowledge of how to identify and troubleshoot Local Area Network, (LAN) components. Monitor completion of preventive maintenance activities performed by outside vendors and third-party vendors. Schedule and oversee vendor and third-party repairs as necessary. Review outcome of preventive maintenance actions and make recommendations to department staff concerning improvements. Maintain accurate inventory, tracking both the addition and deactivation of clinical equipment. Maintain accurate and timely documentation on new equipment, inspections, and equipment repairs and failures. Understand and comply with Joint Commission and other applicable standards and regulations. Must have a valid drivers license in order to be able to provide service to all TUKHS Biomedical Engineering Department customers. Provide in-service educational programs to clinical staff as needed. Provide technical assistance and instruction on equipment operation to medical staff as needed. Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.
