Some of the duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to: Monitor and operate electrical and mechanical systems that support one of two prototype power plants in a safe and efficient manner. Acquire and maintain qualification on one nuclear power plant's off hull support systems. Operate these systems to meet testing, operating, and training schedules for the associated prototype in accordance with approved procedures. Perform danger and caution tag-outs of all support systems as needed. Maintain all required records and logs, including remarks and recommendations, while reporting any abnormal conditions. Respond immediately and independently to any issues associated with the in-hull prototype plant and corresponding support systems. Instruct and assist in orientation and training of Navy and civilian personnel that are certifying as a basic instructor. Acquire and maintain necessary radiological controls qualifications. Maintain proficiency through re-qualification and established continual training program. Naval Nuclear Laboratory personnel are FMP employees who work at four DOE facilities: Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory, Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, Kenneth A.
