The Critical Care/ICU Nurse Practitioner is responsible for managing patients in an open ICU model at West Branch, MI. Responsibilities
o Specialty:
- Hospitalist APP with ICU capabilities
- West Branch utilizes an open ICU model, and this APP will need to manage ICU patients
- Will not consider new grads
o Location:
- West Branch, MI
- 86 licensed beds; 10 ICU beds
o In-patient, Out-Patient or Both:
- In-patient
- 3-7 admits per night
- 15-20 patients to round on
- ICU acuity is low
o Schedule:
- Three days of orientation needed prior to first day on the floor
- Monday - Sunday, 7p-7a
- 7 on/ 7 off
o Cases/Procedures:
- Indirect Laryngoscopy Intubation
- Insertion and Management of Central Venous Catheters
- Insertion and Management of Arterial Catheters
- Moderate Sedation
- Lumbar Puncture
- Endotracheal Intubation and Extubation
- Ventilator Management Including Readiness for And Administering Respirator Weaning/Oxygen Therapy and Extubation. Assessing Need for Intubation
- Insertion of Arterial Lines, Central Venous Lines Either Percutaneously or By Cut Down
- Chest Tube Insertion
- Tracheostomy care including tube change
- Arterial Line Insertion and Removal (Radial and Femoral)
- CVC Line Placement
- External Pacing Including Adjusting Temporary Epicardial, Transvenous Or Transcutaneous Pacemaker as necessary management of Tension Pneumothorax in Emergent Situation
o Supervising Physician:
- Yes
- On-call physician; available within 20 minutes
o EMR and Dictation Tools:
o Required experience, training, and certifications:
- ACLS
- BLS
- All certifications must be from the American Heart Association

- Typically 30 days, but applications are prioritized according to start date
