Responsibilities:
  • Provide on-site psychiatric care and consultative services for Individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Evaluate patients and advise on psychiatric treatment.
  • Provide psychiatric assessments based on observations and interactions with the patients.
  • Ensure the evaluations and assessments are clear and concise and convey all pertinent information.
  • Participate in the development of treatment plans and case management.
  • Provide electronic prescriptions for psychotropic drugs for patients as needed.
  • Provide crisis intervention and prescribe pharmaceutical intervention as necessary.
  • Monitoring positive and negative effects of psychotropic medications prescribed.
  • Mediate admissions of patients to a psychiatric inpatient unit, if necessary.
  • Review prospective patient transfer.
  • Provide in-service programs to increase the knowledge of staff providing care and treatment and attend any specified training that is deemed necessary.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
