The Hospitalist Physician provides inpatient care for adult and pediatric patients, managing admission, rounds, and supervising healthcare providers. This role entails weekend on-call coverage, responding to house codes, and performing essential procedures such as intubation and central line insertion. The physician must be Board Certified and comfortable working in a trauma environment, with a strong emphasis on patient management and collaboration with Nurse Practitioners in the Emergency Department.
$175-$190/hour
- Call on weekends (8a Fri - 8a Mon)
- 8:00 AM Friday to 8:00 AM Monday Morning rounds and then call
- Inpatient admitting, rounding and backing up the NP in the ED
- APPs provide coverage 24/7
- Patient population: adult, pediatric, medicine, trauma
- Solo coverage - only Hospitalist during coverage
- 1-2 admissions per day; 0 ICU; 5-6 inpatients
- Will respond to house codes
- Will cover Patient Care Unit on the 2nd floor of the hospital
- Will be responsible for supervising other healthcare providers
- EMR: Epic
- Trauma level 4
- Required procedures: Non-Invasive Vent Management (bipap/cpap), Intubation (ETT/INT), Chest Tube insertion, Central Line, PICC Line, Newborn Resuscitation, General Inpatient pediatrics, Non-displaced fractures, suturing of minor lacerations, evaluation and management of acute volume/BP issues, EKG interpretation
- 90 day credentialing timeline, but able to grant temp privs in 2 weeks, if needed
- Board Certified - Required
- Must be comfortable backing up the NP in the ED while covering
- Active IA license - Highly Preferred
- BLS, ACLS, ATLS, NRP, PALS - Required, must be obtained before starting
- Need to be comfortable with Peds - Required
- Travel reimbursement will need to be discussed
- COVID Vaccine - Required
