Job Description: Emergency Room (ER) Manager
Position Overview:
The Emergency Room (ER) Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the emergency department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care, maintaining compliance with regulatory standards, and fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment. This role combines clinical expertise, leadership, and administrative responsibilities to ensure the ER operates effectively and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Leadership:
- Supervise and coordinate the day-to-day activities of the ER staff, including nurses, technicians, and support personnel.
- Develop and implement departmental policies, procedures, and workflows to improve patient care and operational efficiency.
Patient Care Oversight:- Ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality, and patient-centered care.
- Monitor patient flow, triage processes, and adherence to clinical protocols.
- Address escalated patient or family concerns promptly and professionally.
Staff Management and Development:- Recruit, train, and retain qualified ER staff.
- Provide mentorship, performance evaluations, and opportunities for professional development.
- Schedule staff to ensure adequate coverage and manage workloads effectively.
Compliance and Quality Improvement:- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal healthcare regulations.
- Lead quality improvement initiatives, including monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) such as wait times, patient satisfaction, and outcomes.
Budget and Resource Management:- Manage departmental budgets, including staffing, equipment, and supplies.
- Advocate for resources needed to maintain or improve ER services.
Collaboration and Communication:- Foster effective communication among multidisciplinary teams.
- Liaise with hospital leadership to align ER goals with organizational objectives.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless patient transfers and continuity of care.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Current RN license in [state/region].
- Minimum of 3-5 years of clinical experience in an emergency room setting, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Advanced certifications such as ACLS, PALS, and TNCC are strongly preferred.
